What you can expect

There’s a lot that goes into upgrading to a new gaming system. Here’s a quick overview of what happens during “The Upgrade” transition. For more details refer to the materials in the Upgrade Resources section.

October 2026

In separate visits, Ohio Lottery teams will begin delivering and installing new, clerk-operated WAVE™ terminals and new PlayCentral® self-serve kiosks.

All existing kiosks will remain fully operational until switched out.

Ongoing retailer training begins.

Fall 2026-Spring 2027

Until the new gaming system goes live:

Retailers will continue to use existing clerk-operated Photon terminals to conduct all transactions.

Select new self-serve kiosks will conduct cash sales of Scratch-Offs only and will not validate winning tickets or vouchers.

New player promotions may be introduced. (Details to come.)

Spring 2027

New gaming system goes live.

Clerk-operated WAVE terminals become operational.

PlayCentral self-serve kiosks perform full menu of transactions.

Self-serve kiosks will continue to be swapped out through summer 2027.
