Article Date 1/13/2016
GOSHEN- A resident of Goshen says she will become a new homeowner after winning a Powerball prize. Victoria Shoopman won $1,000,000 in the January 8, 2016 Powerball game after matching all five numbers and no Powerball number.Shoopman receives $710,000 after mandatory federal and state taxes totaling 29 percent. Her daughter Stacey picked the numbers. Shoopman said Stacy gets a little something extra and she is going to share some of her winnings with the family.
Shoopman is hoping for another chance at winning the $1.5 Billion Powerball prize in tomorrow night’s drawing. She is going to let Stacey pick again because Stacy, she said, is her good luck charm.
Stacy purchased the ticket at Smokes & Things, 6725 A Dickflynn Blvd in Goshen. This retailer receives a $1,000 agent bonus for selling a 5-of-5 Powerball ticket. The holder of the other 5-of-5 ticket sold in Ohio has not come forward. That ticket was purchased at Speedway, 1143 St. Rt. 131 in Milford. Speedway also receives a $1,000 agent-selling bonus.
Tomorrow night’s Powerball jackpot is $1.5 Billion. Shoopman said she is going to play a different set of numbers and she hopes somebody wins.
