Academic All Stars

The Partners in Education Academic All Star Award recognizes K-12 students who have exhibited academic achievement, community involvement, citizenship and leadership in and out of the classroom.

      Braylon Watson –  Pinnacle Academy

      Academic All Star is recognized

      EUCLID -  Braylon Watson is a student at Pinnacle Academy located in Cuyahoga County. He was recently honored by the Ohio Lottery as an Academic All Star.

      Watson is described as an “all around scholar.”  According to first grade teacher Rachel Bruce, “He is committed to making every academic moment matter.” He is willing to help others and try his best in school.  He is a first grader who works hard and strives to do well in school.  

      For being recognized as an Academic All Star, Watson will receive an assortment of Partners in Education merchandise from the Ohio Lottery along with a gift card.

      Gavyn Arnold –  Paulding Elementary

      Academic All Star is recognized

      PAULDING -  Gavyn Arnold is a student at Paulding Elementary located in Paulding County. He was recently honored as an Academic All Star.  

      Arnold is a student who works hard in school and does his best.  He has improved in reading and math; he is a fourth grader.  He works on an online program called Success Maker to improve his skills and isn’t afraid to keep trying.  His determination and dedication make this student a success!  

      For being recognized as an Academic All Star, Arnold will receive an assortment of Partners in Education merchandise from the Ohio Lottery along with a gift card.

      Erica Pratt –  Milton-Union Middle School

      Academic All Star is recognized

      WEST MILTON -  Erica Pratt is a seventh grade student at Milton-Union Middle School. She was recently honored as an Academic All Star by the Ohio Lottery.

      Pratt is a quiet leader who comes to class “prepared to learn”.  She is always willing to help students and she is a joy to have in class.  Teacher Amy Brady says that, “Other students seem drawn to Erica because she will always help without judging another’s ability.”

      Shavell West –  Hughes STEM High School

      Academic All Star is recognized

      CINCINNATI -  Shavell West is a student at Hughes STEM High School located in Hamilton County.  She was recently honored by the Ohio Lottery as a Academic All Star.
       
      West is described as a model student who is a leader on the College Summit Team.  She is a member of the National Honor Society and plays varsity sports as well as maintaining an “A” average in school.  She is dedicated to her studies and portrays a wonderful attitude both inside and outside of the classroom.

      Paige Crane –  Teays Valley West Middle School

      Academic All Star is recognized

      COMMERCIAL POINT -  Paige Crane is an Academic All Star for the Ohio Lottery.  She is a seventh grader at Teays Valley West Middle School located in Pickaway County.

      She is described as a “remarkable student” who takes on challenges and gives her all.  She strives to do her best on the field and in the classroom.  She maintains a high GPA and is respected by her peers.  She is a great role model and a student on whom teachers can depend.

      Academic All Star is recognized

      MASSILLON -  Maryna Steiner is a student at Edison Middle School located in Stark County.  She was recently named an Academic All Star by the Ohio Lottery.  She is in the eighth grade.

      “Maryna Steiner represents the best of what we value in students today.  She is committed to her studies and is an active athlete participating in both basketball and soccer.  In addition, she is compassionate and cooperative when engaging with other students,” says teacher Elizabeth Whitaker.  She is very determined and proud of her work; she is truly an inspiration to those around her.

      Academic All Star is recognized

      EUCLID -  Makayla Williams is a student at Pinnacle Academy located in Cuyahoga County.  She was recently recognized by the Ohio Lottery as an Academic All Star.  She is in the fourth grade.

      “Makayla is a strong leader in the classroom. She is a peer role model and is mature.  She strives for academic excellence. She has shown amazing growth this year,” says Heather Kurtz, teacher.

      Academic All Star is recognized

      PAULDING -  Juan Maldonado is a student at Paulding Elementary located in Paulding County.  He was recently honored by the Ohio Lottery as an Academic All Star.

      “Juan is a good worker.  His homeroom teacher has seen a lot of improvement in his daily work. He is taking pride especially in his spelling,” says teacher Jan Ouellette.

      Carley Shea –  Madeira High School

      Academic All Star is recognized

      MADEIRA -  Carley Shea is an Academic All Star; she is a student at Madeira High School located in Hamilton County.  She was recently recognized by the Ohio Lottery’s Partners in Education program.

      Shea is described as a “multifaceted young lady”.  She is a member of the basketball and softball teams not to mention soccer, Key Club and is President of Students Unified for Uganda.  She is truly a team player on and off the court.  She goes out of her way to help others and she assists with the Cancer Cure basketball game.  You can count on her to lead her classmates and to continually be looked up to by her peers.

      COMMERCIAL POINT -  Katelyn Lanning is a student at Teays Valley West Middle School located in Pickaway County.  She was recently honored by the Ohio Lottery as an Academic All Star.

      Lanning is described as a hard worker who stays on task and completes her work in a timely fashion.  She is always willing to help other students and assist her peers whenever she is needed.  The school is lucky to have her as a student! Lanning is in the eighth grade.

      Frank Corrao –  Cardinal Intermediate School

      Academic All Star is recognized

      MIDDLEFIELD -  Frank Corrao is a student at Cardinal Intermediate School located in Geauga County.  He was recently honored by the Ohio Lottery as an Academic All Star.  Corrao is in the third grade.

      “Frank strives to achieve and learn as much in a day as he can.  He is always on task, works hard and is determined to meet goals set for him.  He currently has a 3.75 GPA.  Frank is very responsible with his work and submits assignments by their due dates,” says Melissa Cardinal, a teacher at the school.  Corrao received an award for his positive and polite behavior.  He is a great role model to his peers. He participates in football and wrestling.

      EUCLID -  Mason Randle is a student at Pinnacle Academy located in Cuyahoga County.  He was recently honored by the Ohio Lottery as an Academic All Star.

      Randle is described as a “respectable scholar.”  He is a wonderful role model and is willing to help in the classroom whenever he is needed.  He strives to go “above and beyond” and has amazing manners.  He is a wonderful asset to the school community.

      PAULDING -  Halycon Smith is an Academic All Star for the Ohio Lottery’s Partners in Education program.  She is a student at Paulding Elementary located in Paulding County.

      Smith is known to be a great worker.  She takes the initiative and comes in before or after school to get extra help or to get caught up on her work.  She has a great work ethic and a positive attitude.  She strives to please not only her teachers but herself.

      WEST MILTON -  Emmie Bohse is a student at Milton-Union Middle School located in Miami County. She was recently named an Academic All Star by the Ohio Lottery.

      “Emmie is a dedicated student who wants to do her best and help those around her do their best, too.   She works through confusion and doesn’t give up,” says Kim Gainey, a teacher at the school.

      “Sean Goodall is a very polite young man.  He participates in class and asks higher level thinking questions.  There is not a mean or rude bone in his body.  Sean is an all- around great kid,” says Lisa Johnson, a teacher at the school.

      Academic All Star is recognized

      CRESTON -  Sierra Smith is a student at Norwayne  Elementary School located in Wayne County.  She was recently honored by the Ohio Lottery as an Academic All Star.

      Smith is described as outgoing and cheerful.  She has worked hard to improve her grades throughout the school year.  “Due to her dedication and great attitude, she has seen gains in her reading level and comprehension.  Sierra’s confidence in herself when reading aloud is wonderful!  Her attendance is excellent and she comes prepared with her weekly homework reading logs,” says Whitney Imhoff, a reading specialist at the school.

      Sarah Loomis –  Malvern High School

      Academic All Star is recognized

      MALVERN -  Sarah Loomis is an Academic All Star who was recognized by the Ohio Lottery’s Partners in Education program. She is a senior at Malvern High School located in Carroll County.

      Loomis is a basketball player and National Honor Society President.  She participated in community projects and makes everyone feel like they are important. She is competitive and humble at the same time and works hard both on the court and inside the classroom. She has a great work ethic and a willingness to learn new things in the classroom and on the court with attention to detail.

      Tipton is a dedicated student who works hard and puts forth a wonderful effort in the classroom.  She makes her academic studies a priority and works hard when the class participates in their writing workshop.  She takes the initiative to see what she can do to improve her grades and get the job done.

      Academic All Star is recognized

      MADEIRA -  Grace Jacobs was recently named an Academic All Star by the Ohio Lottery.  She is a student at Madeira High School located in Hamilton County.
       
      Jacobs is described as a quiet leader who leads by example.  She is a member of many clubs such as the Key Club, Spanish Club and Teen Counseling Club.  She is sometimes referred to as  “Grace is the right place” because she is always where the ball is literally.  Her teammates respect her in basketball, soccer and softball.

      Academic All Star is recognized

      ASHVILLE -  Madison Cline is an Academic All Star for the Ohio Lottery’s Partners in Education program.  She is a student at Teays Valley West Middle School located in Pickaway County.
       
      Cline is described as a hard worker.  She is a positive learner who is very helpful in the classroom. She is a “great example” to her peers and willing to help others and assist her classmates.  There was a note from a substitute teacher commenting on how helpful Cline was in the classroom.

      Joshua Davison –  Fairport Harding High School

      Academic All Star is recognized

      WEST MILTON -  Joshua Davison is a student at Fairport Harding High School located in Lake County.  He was recently honored by the Ohio Lottery as an Academic All Star; he is a senior.

      Davison is a member of the National Honor Society.  He is a member of the Academic Challenge Team and is active in his school and community.  He has received academic awards and is enrolled in college classes.  He serves as a library assistant at the local library.  Karen Bidlack, National Honor Society Advisor says, “Josh is an outstanding student that is dependable and efficient.  He is easy to work with and respectful to teachers and classmates.”

      Academic All Star is recognized

      WEST MILTON -  Jenna Booher is a student at Milton-Union Middle School located in Miami County. She was recently named an Academic All Star by the Ohio Lottery.

      Booher is described as a one of a kind student.  She has been doing outstanding in math, which she has not always been her strongest subject in school.  She perseveres through the difficult times and sees positive results.  She asks questions and continues to smile and work hard.  She is described as a “joy” to have in class.

      Jamie Grob –  Madeira High School

      Academic All Star from Madeira High School receives recognition

      MADEIRA -  Jamie Grob is a senior at Madeira High School, and what a way to kick off second semester of her senior year -- being named an Academic All Star by the Ohio Lottery.

      Grob is a leader in both athletics and in the world of academics.  She is on the honor roll and plays varsity basketball, soccer and softball.  She is a captain of the basketball team and is looked up to by many of her teammates.  She is going to Wofford University next year on a full scholarship.   She is a hard worker who puts her heart and soul into all that she does. She is also in the band and a member of the Spanish Club.

      Ryan McClintock –  Hamilton Elementary School

      Academic All Star is recognized

      COLUMBUS -  Ryan McClintock is a third grade student at Hamilton Elementary School located in Franklin County. He was recently acknowledged by the Ohio Lottery as an Academic All Star for his hard work in the classroom.

      Ryan is described by his third grade teacher as a “wonderful” student who works hard and is dependable and kind to others.  He helps out students and teachers when asked and is respectful and willing to learn.  “Ryan has shown remarkable growth this year and I’m very proud of all his accomplishments.  He continues to be a great role model in the classroom,” says Josh Durig, a third grade teacher at the school.

      LAKEWOOD -  Kyle Tomshack is an Academic All Star.  He is a student at St. Edward High School located in Cuyahoga County. He is a senior and is a member of the football team.

      Tomshack is described as “the epitome of what a student-athlete” is and should be.  He takes on challenges and is a National Merit semifinalist.  His teachers praise his work ethic and determination both inside and outside the classroom. He is a humble student who goes out of his way to helps others in the classroom and on the
      field.

      PAULDING -  Esperanza Kline is a student at Paulding Elementary.  She is in the first grade and was recently named an Academic All Star by the Ohio Lottery.
       
      Kline is described as a “hardworking” first grader who smiles and asks a lot of questions.  She has been able to “come out of her shell” and get to know others.  She is always willing to read and learn more; she tries to please her teachers as best she can.

      Danielle McFarland –  Milton-Union High School

      Academic All Star is recognized

      WEST MILTON -  Danielle McFarland is a student at Milton-Union High School.  She was recently honored by the Ohio Lottery as an Academic All Star.

      Danielle is referred to as an “outstanding” student and a hard worker.  She works tirelessly and helps the 9th graders; she is in the 11th grade.  She is a leader on her soccer team and a great role model to her peers.  She was the Player of the Week in late October.  McFarland is dedicated and devoted to her school and community.

      Academic All Star is recognized

      CINCINNATI -  Antonio Grant is a student at Hughes STEM High School.  He is in the 10th grade and was recently named an Academic All Star by the Ohio Lottery.

      Grant is described as a leader and a student with a great attitude.  He is on the honor roll and is known to be a hard worker.  He deeply cares about his work and his future.

      COMMERCIAL POINT -  Miguel Martinez is a student at Teays Valley West Middle School located in Pickaway County. He was recently named an Academic All Star by the Ohio Lottery for their Partners in Education Program. Martinez is in the seventh grade.

      Martinez is described as respectful and remarkable.  He is kind to his peers and is responsible when it comes to his studies and his work.  He is willing to help his peers, teachers and those in need.  He is a true example of what it means to be a team player in the classroom.

      Williams is described as a hard worker who participates in class discussions and is diligent about completing his school work.  He is currently a fourth grade student at Pinnacle Academy located in Cuyahoga County.  He is a leader for his peers, and he is a student who follows the expectations set out in front of him.

      Brown is known for working hard and being a “successful student.”  He is a participant in class who enjoys helping other students and he is described as “always having a smile on his face.”

      Academic All Star is recognized

      COLUMBUS -  Bryson Harr was recently honored by the Ohio Lottery as an Academic All Star. He is a fourth grade student at Hamilton Intermediate School.

      “Bryson Harr is an outstanding student.  He demonstrates many qualities of a successful student for other students to emulate.  He is an excellent listener, hard worker, organized, respectful to his classmates and teachers, demonstrates a desire to learn, and has the determination to do his best at everything.” says Kelly Case, a teacher at the school.  Harr is described as helpful and willing to do his work.  He is known to be a great student.

      Juan Mendez –  STEAMM Academy @ Hartford

      Academic All Star is recognized

      CANTON -  Juan Mendez was recently recognized as an Ohio Lottery Academic All Star. He is an eighth grade student at STEAMM Academy @ Hartford.

      He is described as a hardworking, respectful and humble student. School counselor Michelle Gump-Wilson says that Mendez didn’t use his limited English as a “crutch”.  “He worked extremely hard to increase his ability.  In fact, he works extremely hard at everything he attacks.  While also learning English, he won the top student award in the sixth grade. If you didn’t know him, you would never realize how many accomplishments he has achieved because he is such a humble young man,” says Gump-Wilson.  He volunteers at the YWCA Thanksgiving lunch and he is involved in the community.

      FAIRPORT HARBOR -  Sarah Kazsmer is a senior at Fairport Harding High School located in Lake County.  She was recently recognized as an Ohio Lottery Academic All Star.

      Kazsmer is the National Honor Society co- president along with being a member of several clubs at school such as the Yearbook Club and Student Council.  She is a leader and a good role model to her peers.  She is on the cheerleading team and is a member of the track team and band.
       
      She is a teen leader for GAHTAH (Give A Hand, Take A Hand) and received academic awards for her 3.9 GPA.  She is enrolled in college classes and is a volunteer in several programs.  “She is dependable and efficient,” says National Honor Society Advisor Karen Bidlack.  Kazsmer is very respectful to her classmates and the faculty and staff.  She is a wonderful addition to the school!

      EUCLID -  Kameron Murray-Lavette is a student at Euclid High School located in Cuyahoga County.  Kameron is an Ohio Lottery Partners in Education Academic All Star.

      LORAIN -  Shyniah Adams is a student at Credit Recovery Academy, a school located in the Lorain City School District.  She is a 12th grader at the school. She was recently recognized by the Ohio Lottery as an Academic All Star.

      Adams is described as a “dedicated” student who works “tirelessly” to learn and accomplish all that she can.  She has been able to achieve at the Honor Roll Level and was elected by the student body to serve as their President.  She makes her school and community better by being the kind of student she is.  She is determined and will not allow anything to stand in her way when it comes to her achievements.

      Student from St. Edward High School is recognized by the Ohio Lottery

      LAKEWOOD -  Frank Geib is a senior at St. Edward High School located in Cuyahoga County.  He was recently recognized as an Academic All Star by the Ohio Lottery.

      Geib is described as the “epitome of the Latin Motto: mens sana in corpore sano (a sound mind in a sound body).”  He is an International Baccalaureate Diploma Candidate student.  He is able to balance a rigorous academic program along with the demands of a student athlete in football and basketball.  He carries a 4.3 GPA and is a member of the National Honor Society.  The school is honored to have him as a student.  He is a “servant leader.”  He is separated from his peers because of the qualities and skills that he possesses.  He is a role model for others and a student who is instrumental both in and outside of the classroom.

      Rindler is described as a wonderful role model to her classmates.  She is at the top of her class academically and is able to be counted on to complete quality work.  She is dependable and able to work with others.  She is involved in choir, soccer, dance, swimming and student council.

      CINCINNATI -  Celia Kline is a senior at Madeira High School located in Hamilton County.  She was recently named an Academic All Star by the Ohio Lottery.

      Kline is a “coaches’ dream.”  She is a leader in the classroom and on the court.  She plays basketball and was the player of the year for the league.  She is the captain of the tennis team and won the CHL Academic Award all four years throughout her high school career.  She is in the Key Club, French Club and received the CP Psychology Student of the Year Award. She is a high achiever both in and out of the classroom.  She is a true champion when it comes to being a good student and player!
