While there are many pluses to social media, one of the minuses is social scams. Scam accounts will pose as a trusted source to try and steal information. Recently, an account posing as the Ohio Lottery tried to scam our players.
An account named “Cashout Cashway” has sent messages to some of our Facebook followers saying, “You are one of the lucky selected fans!” This is a scam.
Following the initial message, the scammer will ask for personal or banking information. Protect your personal information by not responding.
If you receive a Facebook message that you are unsure of, check the verification of the account. All of our social media accounts are verified, so look for the blue check mark.
