Our first February Academic All Star is
Alyssa Julian. Alyssa is a seventh-grader at Edison Middle School. She is described by teachers as organized, driven, and self-motivated. Alyssa is a member of choir, Power of the Pen, French Club, and on the Honor Roll. Mrs. Drumm nominated Alyssa, and she said, “She puts forth her best effort into every task and challenge given to her. We are proud to have her as a student at Edison Middle School!”
Christine Rutkowski is our next Academic All Star. Christine is a Senior at Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School. She is a member of her school’s Youth and Government Club and the dance team. She is described as hard working, professional, and creative. Mr. Brennan nominated Christine and said, “Christine is truly among the top student leaders in our school. […] she has been a positive influence on our entire student body and institution.”
Our next Academic All Star is
Benjamin Schommer. Benjamin is an eighth-grader at Milton-Union Middle School. Teachers say they have seen a large amount of academic and social growth from the last school year to the present. Ms. Farrier nominated Benjamin and said, “Ben is much more engaged in class conversations and always willing to help his peers when needed.”
Our first Teacher of the Month is
Michele Holzschu. Mrs. Holzschu teaches music at Morrison-Gordon Elementary School. In her classroom, students have the opportunity to learn songs to sing as well as how to play instruments. The parents who nominated Mrs. Holzschu say, “She does such a wonderful job with the students and makes sure they truly enjoy the music. She is such an asset to the school.”
Matt Kramer is our next Teacher of the Month. Mr. Kramer teaches ninth and tenth grade English at Liberty Union-Thurston High School; he also coaches boys Varsity Basketball. Mr. Kramer is described as someone who goes above and beyond for his students both inside and out of the classroom. Cortni Brunty is a parent who nominated Mr. Kramer, and she said that her daughter raves about Mr. Kramer’s class.
Leah Sheldon is also a February Teacher of the Month. She teaches Instrumental Music for grades 5-12 at Wickliffe Middle School and Wickliffe High School. Mrs. Sheldon is described as a strong, caring person who is also talented, creative, encouraging, and dedicated. Mrs. Graves nominated Mrs. Sheldon and says that she is a great asset to the school’s music program. Mrs. Graves also said, “Mrs. Sheldon continually challenges her students to become better musicians through practice, playing quizzes, instrumental maintenance, and special help after school. [She] is the kind of person that always adds a little something extra to class.”
