When you play the Ohio Lottery, you’re doing more than experiencing some excitement in your day. In Ohio, 100 percent of the profits from lottery game sales help support education. The fiscal year just ended on June 30, and we’re proud to say that it marked an
other record transfer to education in Ohio with over $1.1 billion going to the Lottery Profits Education Fund!
Just like we support education in Ohio through lottery sales, lotteries across the nation support various good causes including education, senior programs and state parks to name a few. In fiscal year 2018, U.S. lotteries generated $23.4 billion for those good causes and transferred $4.8 billion to lottery retail partners.
The community impact doesn’t end at the ticket counter. The lotteries across the nation are often involved in directly supporting local causes. Here in Ohio, our Cash Explosion Show hosts the Facing Hunger Campaign every year. The show’s fans have helped us make generous contributions to food banks across Ohio. Since its kickoff in 2011, the Facing Hunger Campaign has donated more than 23 tons of food to food banks across the state.
Our staff also sees the importance of supporting the communities where they work and live. Every year, Ohio Lottery employees take part in Stuff the Bus to help supply children in need with the school supplies they need to have a successful start to the school year.
