March is Problem Gambling Awareness Month

Playing lottery games is fun, but there are times when it can become a problem.

In Ohio, 0.9% of the population has a gambling problem.

While the number is small, the effort to spread a responsible gambling message is still important.

The month of March is National Problem Gambling Awareness Month, and the 2021 theme is Awareness + Action.

The campaign has two goals, to increase public awareness of problem gambling and the availability of prevention, treatment and recovery services, and to encourage healthcare providers to screen clients for problem gambling.
At the Ohio Lottery, we work year-round to share responsible gambling messages and to re-enforce strategies for healthy play and educate retailers and customers about the support systems available to help when gambling causes problems and is no longer fun.

This month, we encourage our players to visit our website to learn more about the warning signs that gambling is becoming a problem.

The Keep it Fun site has a quiz you can take to assess your own gambling habits, a series of myths and facts about gambling, and the costulator to help you see how much you spend on gambling.

You can take a look at your gambling habits so you can Keep it Fun year-round.
