Playing lottery games is meant to be fun. And while most of the population gambles responsibly, there is a small percentage of people who struggle with gambling addiction.
Every March the Ohio Lottery recognizes Problem Gambling Awareness Month to remind players to play responsibly and to offer resources to help anyone who may be struggling with gambling addiction.
Tips to help you gamble responsibly include:
- Setting limits on how much time and money you will spend gambling
- Never borrow or use credit to gamble
- Paying your bills first and spending only what you can afford to lose
- Gambling for fun, not to solve financial problems or avoid depression
Anyone who gambles can develop a problem. If you have a gambling problem or suspect a loved one has a gambling problem, help is available. Call the Ohio Problem Gambling Helpline at 1-800-589-9966. To text with someone, text “4hope” to 741741.
