March Partners in Education Winners

We officially welcomed Spring last month, and these Ohio students and teachers really stepped up to the plate! Check out our March Partners in Education Academic All Stars and Teachers of the Month.

Our first Academic All Star is Millicent Ackleys. Millicent is a seventh grader at Teays Valley West Middle School. She is described as a hard worker. Teachers say, “She comes to class with a positive attitude and a smile on her face daily. She is quietly attentive, will respond when call upon, and works well in group settings.”

Madilyn Gaydos, a Junior at Brunswick High School, is our next Academic All Star. She is a member of the varsity tennis team and was a co-captain this past season. Madilyn also strives academically. She is studying college Chinese, and is a member of the National Honor Society and Student Council. She is also very involved in her community. Madilyn is a weekly Library and Safety Town volunteer, a tutor, and a volunteer at the senior center.

Skye Hoover is an eighth grader at Edison Middle School and a March Academic All Star. Skye is described as “a delightful young lady” and “a joy to have in class”. She is a member of the school band, Model UN, and Junior Teen Institute. Skye is known for her work ethic. Teachers said, “Skye leads by example and is kind and generous to her peers. […] we all feel very lucky to have the pleasure of teaching this remarkable young lady.”

Our fourth Academic All Star is Thomas Ryerson. Thomas is a seventh grader at Milton-Union Middle School. He is known for always having a smile on his face and putting forth his best effort. Teachers note that he is willing to work with anyone and gets along with everyone.

Our first Teacher of the Month is Tammy Broughton. Tammy is a Math Intervention Specialist for grades 7-8 at Dixie Middle School. She is known for being a problem solver and doing it with a smile on her face. Tammy is well respected by her students and looked up to by her peers. A fellow teacher says, “Our building would be lost without her!”

Matt England is our next Teacher of the Month. Matt teaches Technology for grades 6-8 at Rocky River Middle School. He is described as innovative and a leader. Along with teaching technology, Matt is coordinator for the school’s essentials team which includes Band, Choir, Fitness, Art and College and Career Readiness.

Anne Markijohn teaches Physics and Chemistry for grades eleven and twelve at Geneva High School and is a March Teacher of the Month. Anne is known for her service, creativity, and dedication in the classroom and community. She is praised for her lessons and classroom activities by fellow teachers. Outside of the classroom, she runs Quiz Bowl, Academic Challenge, Science Fair, Sunshine Committee, and is a class advisor. “She is always ready to step up and serve our community and school,” says coworker, Matt Hunt.

Our next Teacher of the Month is Chelsea Minnich. Chelsea teaches third grade English Language Arts at Parkway Elementary School. She is known for her character, effort, and dedication to achieving the school’s mission. She also demonstrates leadership as a member of the Teacher Based Team, the Building Leadership Team, and the District Leadership. A fellow teacher said this about Chelsea: “[…] she represents everything Alliance City Schools stands for. Our district, our school, and most of all, her students, are so lucky to have her!”

Our fifth Teacher of the Month is Sue Stark. Sue teaches fifth grade English Language Arts and Reading at Galion Intermediate School. She is described as a leader and someone who is always willing to help. The Assistant Principal had this to say about Sue: “Her passion for teaching is unmatched. Mrs. Stark is an outstanding educator that goes above and beyond for all students at Galion Intermediate School.”
