Group of Co-workers Claim $5.9 Million Classic Lotto Jackpot

EUCLID, OH – Sixteen years playing the same set of numbers paid off for a group of ten public workers in Northeast Ohio who won the $5.9 million Classic Lotto jackpot drawn on November 23, 2020.

Two representatives of the group, calling themselves The Lucky Ten, visited the Ohio Lottery offices in Cleveland to claim the prize. The group chose the cash option of $2.9 million. After state and federal taxes totaling 28 percent, each member of the group will receive $212,400.

Gery, who purchases the tickets each week, said the group plays Powerball, Mega Millions and Classic Lotto. He said when he realized they won $5.9 million he couldn’t believe it.

“I called group together to tell them, and I wanted to see their facial expressions. They thought I was lying!” Gery said.
When the pool started sixteen years ago, they purchased an auto pick ticket and have stuck with the numbers ever since. They will continue to play those numbers.
“A few months ago, we won for $2,000. We were just building up to the big one. We’re hoping for Mega Millions next,” Gery said.
The winning numbers were: 8-13-18-26-33-39. The group purchased the winning ticket at Convenient Food Mart, located at 811 E. 222 Street in Euclid.

This is Ohio’s 23rd Classic Lotto jackpot win since the game began in 2007.
