$2 Million Powerball Prize Claimed in Columbus

CLEVELANDTimothy Rice of Dublin casually checked his Powerball numbers this morning, but he didn’t waste any time finding his nearest Ohio Lottery office to make his claim. He matched all five white balls to win $2 million in the January 22, 2015 Powerball drawing.

After mandatory state and federal taxes totaling 29 percent, Rice will receive $1,420,000. Rice says he has plans to buy a place somewhere warmer than Ohio and get a new Corvette with his winnings.

He bought the ticket at the Kroger Co. at 4656 Cemetery Road in Hilliard. Kroger Co. will receive a $1,000 bonus for selling a second-tier prize winning ticket. Rice’s ticket matched the winning numbers of 11-12-15-28-57, but missed the Powerball number, 23.  He purchased the Power Play option, which raised his match 5 prize ($1 million) to $2 million.
