Celebrating the Oho Lottery's 40th Anniversary

(DAYTON) Duane Epperson is not new to celebrating winning Ohio Lottery games. In fact, he was on Cash Explosion three weeks in a row in 2009, where he won $100,000. Today Epperson celebrates something even bigger, the Ohio Lottery’s 40th anniversary, and winning $1,000,000 on that instant game ticket.

A second-tier annuity prize, paid as $40,000 a year for 25 years, Epperson chose the cash option. He receives a lump sum of $355,000 after federal and state taxes totaling 29 percent. This win came at the right time because he is recovering from full knee replacement.

Epperson said he likes scratch-offs and really wants to get back on Cash Explosion. He doesn’t play paper games that much, but he’s going to buy a paper game ticket for tonight’s $139 million Mega Millions jackpot. Duane purchased the ticket from Dixie Stop, 8811 North Dixie Drive in Dayton.

“When I sat and scratched it, my brother didn’t believe me, saying ‘Oh, don’t start that again!’”

Guess Duane made a believer out of his brother Danny.
