They beat the odds to win $250,000

DAYTON - The odds of winning a second-tier prize in the Mega Millions game are 1: 3.9 million. Ronald R. Roberts, Michael L. Cavanaugh and Patrick M. Newman, all of Franklin, beat the odds, winning $250,000 by matching five numbers and no mega ball in the Sept. 16, Mega Millions drawing.
After mandatory federal and state tax withholdings totaling 31 percent, this group of three will divide $172,500.
They used auto lotto. The winning Mega Millions numbers were 6-23-41-45-56. The mega ball number was 24.  They purchased the second-tier prize winning ticket at Hunter IGS Express, 4077 ST. RT. 122 W. in Franklin. Hunter IGS Express receives a $1,000 agent bonus for selling a second-tier prizewinning ticket.
