Choosing the annuity or the cash

COLUMBUS - Two players of Ohio Lottery instant games had choices to make after winning top prizes. David W. Alsop of Washington Court House won $50,000 a year for 20 years which is a $1,000,000 prize on $5 Million Cash Extravaganza Debra A. Ciaca-Martinez of Columbus won $50,000 a year, for 20 years or $1,000,000 on Money Maker.
Alsop chose the annuity and will receive $34,500 yearly for the next 20 years after mandatory and federal and state taxes are withheld. Ciaca-Martinez chose the cash option. After mandatory federal and state taxes totaling 31 percent, she will receive a lump sum check for $345,000.
Alsop purchased the winning ticket from 303 E. Court Street in Washington Court House, Petit’s BP Oil. Ciaca-Martinez purchased the ticket from Cards Gifts Lotto, 1766 E. Dublin Granville Road in Columbus. Cards Gifts Lotto receives a $1,000 agent bonus for selling a top prize winning ticket.
