$200,000 Powerball Winner

YOUNGSTOWN – A resident of East Liverpool came close to winning a Powerball jackpot winning a second-tier prize instead. Chrystalyn L. Rhodes won $200,000 by matching five numbers and no Powerball in the 8-21-10 Powerball drawing.

After mandatory federal and state taxes totaling 31 percent, Rhodes receives a check for $138,000.

She purchased the second-tier winning Powerball ticket at Kmart, 1589 ST. RT. 170 in East Liverpool. The winning numbers were 07-10-12-22-27. The Powerball number was 26.  Kmart receives a $1,000 agent bonus for selling a second-tier ticket.

Susan Smolinski of Independence also won $200,000 for matching five of the numbers and no Powerball in the 8-21-10 Powerball drawing. She purchased the ticket from Discount Dairy Mart, 6160 Brecksville Road in Independence. Discount Dairy Mart received a $1,000 bonus for selling a prizewinning ticket also.
