Caring for Widows

by Kevin B.
A few years ago my father-in-law passed away. As my son and I stepped in to help my mother-in-law with lawn care and household repairs, it dawned on us that many other widows and single parents might not have family who could do the same. It got us thinking about how we might help. Last year I left career behind to start a non-profit called LoveMonkey Ministries that helps take care of the needs of widows and single parents. We do it by connecting those in need with the faith communities in their own neighborhoods. We use volunteers from area partner churches to help take care of the people in their own communities. We are now active and serving in the Dayton area. It has been so rewarding to see how serving our neighbors in small ways has helped to create smiles and for both the volunteers and the people we serve.
