What is Mobile Cashing?

Mobile Cashing is a secure and convenient way for you to deposit your winnings between $50 and $5,000 directly into your bank account from your mobile device.

How can I begin to cash my winnings using my mobile device?

Mobile Cashing has been built into the current Ohio Lottery Application! You can download it in the Apple Play store or Google Store.  If you already have the Ohio Lottery mobile app, set your device to auto-update so you have the most current version of the app. Scan an eligible ticket and select CASH OUT to start the mobile cashing process.

I already have a MyLotto Rewards® account.  Do I need to create a separate account for Mobile Cashing?

No, you can use your current MyLotto Rewards® Account. Once you have logged in using your MyLotto Rewards username and password, you will be asked to provide a few additional pieces of information and may need to verify your current information to receive payment. 

What tickets are eligible for Mobile Cashing?

Most Lottery scratch-off or draw-based game tickets with a single win of $50 - $5,000 are eligible. Classic Lotto/Kicker winning combination tickets and tickets with multiple wins on them that roll up to more than $50 cannot be processed through the mobile cashing program. Vouchers are also not able to be processed through the mobile cashing program.

I already received a Pay to Bearer ticket for my winning ticket.  Can I still cash my ticket with Mobile Cashing?

Yes.  You can cash tickets with or without a Pay to Bearer ticket with Mobile Cashing.

Will the winning tickets that I claim roll up at the end of the year and a W2G be produced or is each winning ticket that I claim treated separately?

The IRS regulations remain the same regardless of the way a ticket is claimed.  Tax rules apply to individual tickets.

  • Prizes $599 and under are not reported to the IRS.
  • Prizes $600 - $5,000 are reported but taxes are not withheld.
  • Prizes $5,000 and over have withholding and are reported.

What do I need to create a Mobile Cashing account?

You will need to provide your mobile phone number, your legal name, Social Security Number, bank account, and valid address. You will receive a verification code via text message upon completion of those fields. Entering this code, allows us to authenticate your information and provide this service to you.

Why do I need to provide my Social Security number? Is it secure?

Your social security number will be used to verify your identity. The Lottery takes data security very seriously and all information provided will be treated as confidential information.

Why did I receive an error message when I tried to enter in my legal information (Legal first name, last name and SSN)?

Please make sure you are entering your exact information as it appears on your Social Security card.  For example, if your name is “Michael,”  you need to enter “Michael” and not “Mike.” 

What types of deposit account can I use to receive my winnings?

Currently, you can add a bank account. You cannot receive your winnings using any type of gift card. Credit and Debit is coming soon!

How long does it take to set up a Mobile Cashing account? Can I start to use it immediately?

It only takes a few minutes to set up and use a mobile cashing account, but your winnings will not be deposited until your bank account is verified. It normally takes about 7 business days for a bank account to be verified.

What will the transaction look like in my bank account?

The transaction will not come from the Ohio Lottery. The transaction will come from Marcus Thomas. Example: “ACH,MARCUSTHOM MARCUSTHOM”

How do I set up a Mobile Cashing Account?

  1. If you have a winning ticket that is worth $50 - $5,000, scan the eligible winning ticket with the Ohio Lottery Mobile Application. The app will verify the ticket value.
  2. Select CASH OUT.
  3. Set up your Mobile Cashing Account, following the prompts.
  4. Once your deposit account has been verified you can begin to receive your winnings in your bank account!

My Mobile Cashing Account is set up and verified. How do I cash out a ticket?

  1. If you have a winning ticket that is $50 - $5,000, scan the eligible winning ticket with the Ohio Lottery Mobile Application. The app will verify the ticket value.
  2. Select CASH OUT.
  3. Select the account where you want your winnings to be deposited
  4. Review the information
  5. Submit the transfer
  6. Receive the winnings in your bank account!

Will I receive a confirmation of my transaction?

Yes, a confirmation email will be sent to your email on your MyLotto Rewards® account. The email will include the amount received and the name of the deposit account.

How long does it take to receive my winnings in my bank account?

Please allow 1-3 business days for the transaction to show in your bank account.

I didn’t receive the full amount that I won, where did my money go?

In accordance with ORC 3770.071, 3770.073 Lottery prizes may be reduced by monies owed to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services or the Attorney General’s Office, if applicable. If your completed deposit shows an Intercept Amount, your prize was deducted for either child support, spousal support or state debt owed via the Ohio Lottery’s Prize Intercept Program. I closed my bank account, and I already cashed my ticket out but did not yet receive my winnings. What should I do now?

You will receive an email stating that your transaction failed. You will need to contact the Ohio Lottery Claims Department at 1-800-686-4208.

My bank account does not reflect my winnings and it’s been past the 1-3 business days timeframe. Now what do I do?

Can I cancel my mobile cashing transaction?

No, once you select SUBMIT TRANSFER, your transaction cannot be cancelled.

Can I cash more than one ticket at the same time?

No, you can only cash one ticket at a time.

Do I need to keep my tickets after I cash them?

Please keep your ticket until you have confirmed that the funds have been added to your bank account. Once confirmed, you no longer need to keep them.

Can I review previous transactions?

Yes, you can look up previous transactions under My Account and Mobile Cashing Transaction History.
