Top Prize Drawing Winner

Mayfield Village... Barbara Keptner, of Mayfield Village, was awarded $100,000 on Thursday, September 13, at Village Food Mart in Mayfield Village. After mandatory federal and state taxes totaling 31 percent, Keptner will take home, $69,000.

Keptner was surprised by TV cameras and newspaper reporters when she walked into the store. She knew she was coming to an Ohio State Lottery promotion. She also knew she was a finalist for the Top Prize Drawing, a feature on some instant tickets that automatically awards $1,000 plus entry into a later drawing for the top prize featured in that game.

Keptner originally bought her $5 Blazing 8’s ticket 18 months prior at Catalano's Stop-N-Shop in Highland Heights. Store owner Diane Pozzuto was delighted that Keptner, a regular Lottery player, won a big prize.

Keptner planned to celebrate at a family birthday gathering Thursday night. “The whole family will be there, and I’ll walk in with my giant check,” she said. “We have a lot of reasons to celebrate.”
