TOLEDO - A resident of Lucas County is starting Monday off right, claiming a top prize on an Ohio Lottery instant game. Patrick L. Berry Sr. of Toledo won $100,000 a year for the next 20 years after scratching the $150 Million Blockbuster game.
After mandatory federal and state taxes totaling 31 percent, Berry receives $69,000 yearly for the next 20 years. He chose the annuitized prize.
Berry purchased the winning ticket from Lottery Express, 1614 S. Byrne Road in Toledo. Lottery Express receives a $10,000 agent bonus for selling a top prize winning ticket.
Since 1974, the Ohio Lottery has raised more than $16 billion to support K-12 education across Ohio. The Lottery’s fiscal year 2009 transfer to the Lottery Profits for Education Fund was $702.3 million.
