CLEVELAND – Florence Stephens of Chippewa Lake bought an Ohio Lottery Lucky Times Ten ticket, and now, more than a year later, she’s feeling lucky indeed.
Her $5 Lucky Times Ten ticket yielded an entry into the Top Prize Drawing for that game after it closed. During the wait, Stephens enjoyed the $1,000 she got immediately with the Top Prize Drawing entry.
A note about how TPD works: Ohio Lottery instant tickets of $5 or more have the TPD feature. If the winning combination on an instant ticket lists “TPD” as the prize, the winner receives an instant cash prize and automatic entry into a drawing for the top prize offered in that game. The TPD drawing comes after the close of the game, which sometimes means that the ticket was purchased a year or so before the drawing actually occurs. Stephens purchased her $5 Lucky Times Ten ticket in December, 2006 at a Hawkins store in Medina. When she made the claim for $1,000, she was entered into the Top Prize Drawing.
Stephens was presented with a $250,000 oversized check at the Lottery’s regional office in Toledo.
Since 1974, the Ohio Lottery had raised over $15.8 billion to support K-12 education in Ohio’s schools. The Lottery’s fiscal year 2008 transfer to the Lottery Profits Education Fund was $672.2 million.
