Thursday, February 03, 2005

Brooklyn Heights…An Ohio Lottery agent won one-third of a top prize after he sold himself one of three winning tickets purchased in an Ohio Lottery on-line game. James B. Matteson of Cleveland won $104,667, one-third of the $324,001 jackpot for matching five numbers in the February 1, 2005 Rolling Cash 5 game. He filed a claim in the Brooklyn Heights regional office yesterday afternoon.

After mandatory federal and state tax withholdings totaling 28.5 percent, Matteson will receive a check for $74, 836.91. He picked his own numbers. The winning numbers were 3-4-6-16-17. Matteson is a winner in more ways than one. He also owns Caruso’s Bar where he purchased the winning ticket. Caruso’s Bar, 5006 Clark Avenue, in Cleveland receives a $500 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

Two more tickets matched all five numbers. The holders of those tickets also picked their own numbers. Mike’s, at 1310 W. High Street in Bryan and Warren Village Beverage, 3330 Warren Road in Cleveland will each receive a $500 agent bonus for selling a winning ticket.
