LOCKBOURNE... Clayton Nagle and his wife, Mary, are after only the simple pleasures in life.
“We might even go out to eat now,” Nagle, 69, said, after winning the Ohio Lottery’s Top Prize Drawing in the Bingo Times Ten game. The Top Prize Drawing (TPD) was worth $100,000, in addition to the $1,000 Nagle got when he claimed entry into the TPD.
“We entered in that drawing a long time ago and we figured the drawing was already over with and we didn’t get notified, so we didn’t win,” Nagle said. “In fact, we still don’t believe we won.”
But they did. Clayton and Mary, of Lockbourne, made their $100,000 claim in the Columbus regional office on Friday. Finally, they believe.
“I guess it’s real,” Clayton said. “I’m going to hang this giant check right out the window.”
The Nagles have decided to pay off the two new cars recently purchased and play more Lottery. “We really enjoy it,” Clayton said. “I like to play the Cashword game and Mary likes the Bingos. It’s fun for us. And now we want to get into this TPD thing again. I like how this works.”
Here’s how TPD works: Ohio Lottery instant tickets of $5 or more have the TPD feature. If the winning combination on an instant ticket lists “TPD” as the prize, the winner receives an instant cash prize and automatic entry into a drawing for the top prize offered in that game. The drawing comes after the close of the game, which sometimes means that the ticket was purchased a year or so before the drawing actually occurs.
Clayton purchased his Bingo Times Ten ticket in November 2006, at which time he won an instant $1,000 prize. When he made that claim, he was automatically entered into the drawing for the $100,000 top prize.
“Every time we play now, we look for that TPD,” Clayton said. “It’s a great way to win.”
