Who may be eligible to sell KENO?
A location holding a State of Ohio Class D liquor permit provided that the location operates as a bar, restaurant, tavern, entertainment establishment, social, veteran or fraternal organization may be eligible to sell KENO. Final approval to sell KENO is subject to Ohio laws and Ohio Lottery Commission rules and regulations.

How can I apply for a license so that I may sell KENO?
You can apply for a Lottery license by contacting your local Lottery regional office or by downloading the documents from this website (see the Forms to Become a Retailer link above). You may also call the Ohio Lottery Sales Office at 216-774-5680.

What are the steps in the licensing process?
The OLC licensing process includes review of principal owner criminal backgrounds; review of the liquor licensing information assigned to the establishment; submission of a bond in the minimum amount of $20,000; and completion of lottery training.

What other requirements are there?
Retailers must comply with the Terms and Conditions for Ohio Lottery Retailers. A copy will be included in application packets or may be downloaded from this website (see the links above).

Can I just sell KENO?
No, in order to become a retailer who is eligible to sell KENO you must become a full service Lottery retailer with the ability to sell/offer all games.

If I am eligible to sell KENO, when can I begin to sell KENO?
The first KENO drawing will take place on Monday, August 4. You can start selling KENO on that day.

Will I have to attend training after becoming a licensed Lottery retailer?
Yes, all new retailers must attend a training program for all Lottery Products. In addition to attending a group or individual training session, fact sheets and other educational materials will be included with the implementation of KENO.

What will the commission be for retailers who are eligible to sell KENO?
Commission will be the standard rate for the sale of lottery games in addition to standard cashing bonuses.

What equipment are retailers who are eligible to sell KENO required to have?
All retailers receive standard lottery equipment, which includes an Altura terminal, printer and a verifier. In addition to the standard lottery equipment, retailers who are eligible to sell KENO will receive a monitor to display winning numbers. What are the current costs associated with being a Lottery Retailer?
You will be responsible for having a dedicated grounded outlet located within 6 feet of the placement of the Altura gaming terminal.
$25 license fee -This fee is collected through electronic funds transfer once you are approved and selling Lottery products. This fee will appear as an adjustment on your invoice report.
Bond - Each retailer is required to obtain a bond. There is a $20,000 bond minimum requirement. A retailer may obtain a bond through any insurance company authorized by the State of Ohio to issue Lottery eligible bonds. Through the Lottery’s current bond program, a principal with average to good credit can obtain a $20,000 bond for about $200 per year.
$12 weekly line charge – Retailers are charged a $12 per line weekly line charge, which appears on their weekly invoice.
Each Lottery retailer is required to have a checking account that will be used to electronically transfer funds owed to the Lottery.
