The Ohio State Lottery Honors a Teacher Who Wears Many Hats
Toledo... Karl Lammers, the principal of Kalida Elementary, describes sixth grade science teacher, Roger Luersman as “the kind of teacher that does his job every day without fanfare and in the process, develops our youth into the fine, young adults we enjoy.”
Luersman is in his 35th year of teaching. His dedication sets him aside from many educators in that he makes students feel that they are always being treated fairly. Luersman has contributed to the district’s overall rating of excellence. He makes himself available to students who may need intervention and stays in contact with parents of those students who need extra help.
Luersman has been involved with the SAY soccer program from its inception and has coached basketball at the junior high level. Luersman can be seen taking care of audio/visual equipment and may even be seen driving a bus from time to time. His contributions show that he “has embraced the profession with true passion.”
Luersman is in his last year of teaching. He recently received Teacher of the Month (October) by The Ohio State Lottery. Luersman represents North West Ohio.
Luersman will be recognized and receive four tickets to a Cavs’ game on Nov. 24. He will also receive a merchandise prize pack.
The Ohio State Lottery will continue to recognize Academic All Stars and Teachers of the Month throughout the school year. For more information about the program and for nomination forms, go to www.Ohiolottery.com.
