Fairland West Elementary Teacher Receives Recognition
PROCTORVILLE - Patricia Clark is a 3rd grade teacher at Fairland West Elementary in Lawrence County. She was recently named an Ohio Lottery Teacher of the Month for the month of November. Clark represents the Athens area.
Clark just began her 31st year of teaching. She started her teaching career as a special education teacher. She tries to help children succeed and become independent, responsible individuals. Clark does a personal narrative journal with the students in her classroom. It takes a great deal of time to edit and read the narratives, but Clark sees it’s worth as the children become creative writers right in her midst.
She also uses a reward system in the classroom for good grades and behavior in which students earn play money to purchase items from the “classroom store.” This enhances the students’ counting and money skills along with the importance of working hard.
For being recognized as a Teacher of the Month, Clark will receive four tickets to a Columbus Blue Jackets’ game, recognition at the event, merchandise from the team and an assortment of Partners in Education merchandise from the Ohio Lottery.
The Ohio Lottery will continue to recognize Academic All Stars and Teachers of the Month throughout the school year. For more information about the program and for nomination forms, go to the Academic All Star links on this web site's home page.
