AKRON - Paula Murphy was recently recognized by the Ohio Lottery as a Teacher of the Month. She represents the Akron-Canton area for the month of March. Murphy teaches 1st grade at Young Elementary in Summit County.

Murphy was selected to the All County Teaching Team for Summit County this past Fall. She believes in attending one out of school event for each child in her room. She tries to attend the youth games, plays and gymnastic or cheerleading activities that her students participate in on the weekends. She set up a pen pal program between her students and the students at Springfield High School’s Career Based Intervention class.

For being recognized as a Teacher of the month, Murphy will receive four tickets to a Cleveland Cavaliers’ game, recognition at the event, merchandise from the team and an assortment of Partners in Education merchandise from the Ohio Lottery.
