Rocky River Science Teacher Receives Recognition from
the Ohio Lottery
Rocky River, OHDavid Opdycke, a 16 year veteran teacher at Rocky River Middle School, was recently named Ohio Lottery’s Teacher of the Month. Opdycke represents the Cleveland area. Opdycke exemplifies excellence in the classroom, motivates students, and illuminates creativity and imagination in the classroom.
Opdycke is described by Dr. David Root, his Principal, as deserving of this award. “He has provided leadership for his team by developing curriculum maps, planning intervention strategies for the State tests, and has been instrumental in writing new curriculum in science and math for the school,” says Root. Opdycke was also instrumental in the use of an online homework communication program presently used by all teachers. He is dedicated to teaching with “excellent attendance”. Root points out that he has developed academic programs for at risk students.
For being recognized as Teacher of the Month, Opdycke will receive four tickets to a Gladiators’ game, recognition at the event, merchandise from the team, and an assortment of Partners in Education merchandise from the Lottery.
