CHESTERLAND - John Koenig is a math teacher (grades 5-8) at St. Anselm School in Chesterland. Koenig was recently named the Ohio Lottery’s Teacher of the Month for the month of January. He represents the Akron/Canton area.

Koenig is described as making a difference in the lives of his students. He takes extra time with students who are accelerated in math by helping them during his lunch hour. He also prepares students for high school entrance exams. He has his own Web site that students can use for extra assistance. Although he has only taught a few years, he is remembered by his students as going above and beyond the call of his profession.

A parent describes this teacher by saying, “Mr. Koenig is not only well liked by his students, but he has inspired them to do well.” For being recognized as a Teacher of the Month, Koenig will receive four tickets to a Cleveland Cavaliers’ game, recognition at the event, merchandise from the team and an assortment of Partners in Education merchandise from the Ohio Lottery.
