Chef is honored as Teacher of the Month by the Ohio Lottery

MILAN -- Michael Edwards loves to cook. Better yet, he loves to teach others to cook. That’s a great thing for the students at EHOVE (Erie-Huron-Ottawa Vocational Education) Career Center in Milan, where he is the Culinary Arts instructor.

“Former students frequently return to EHOVE to tell us how well they were prepared for post-secondary training or success in the workplace,” says Mark Ringlein, assistant director at EHOVE. “Chef Edwards is aware of the changing needs of the industry and knows that future success necessitates the need for lifelong learning.”

As the January Teacher of the Month for the Lorain area, Chef Edwards is also now an honoree of the Ohio Lottery’s Partners in Education program. Edwards will receive four tickets to an upcoming Cleveland Cavaliers game, where he will be publicly recognized on the court. He will also receive a prize pack of Cavaliers’ merchandise and assorted Partners in Education merchandise from the Lottery.

This is not the first award for Edwards; he has recently been recognized as the National Restaurant Association’s national ProStart Instructor of the Year. He is also active in the local chapter of the American Culinary Federation.

“Chef Edwards’ industry experience combined with his education background has given him a unique perspective into the curriculum needed to prepare students for jobs in the industry,” Ringlein says. “His dedication, enthusiasm and ability to work successfully with a variety of students are evident in many ways.”
