Fifth grade music teacher is honored by the Ohio Lottery
LORAINJeffrey Meyers is a fifth grade teacher at Walter G. Nord Middle School. He has taught for 30 years. He is an instrumental music teacher who instructs students in band, choral and musical directing. Meyers was recently named the Ohio Lottery Teacher of the Month for the month of February.
Barry Kaufman, a fellow staff member, says that, “His years as a music professional have shaped the lives of each of his student’s talent toward music appreciation.” He has performed professionally, as well as donated time as a volunteer of the All Lorain county High School Jazz Ensemble and several pit orchestras for many years.
Mr. Meyers served as an Adjunct Professor at LCCC directing the Civic Jazz Band and Jazz Improvisation class.” Kaufman says that he is able to bring beginning students in band to their first spring concert as “brilliantly polished gems.”
For being recognized as a Teacher of the Month, Meyers will receive four tickets to a Lake Erie Monsters’ game, recognition at the event, merchandise from the team and an assortment of Partners in Education merchandise from the Ohio Lottery.
