English Teacher; Yearbook Moderator is Recognized by the Ohio Lottery
Uhrichsville, OHSusan Monticelli, a teacher at Claymont High School, recently was named the Ohio Lottery Teacher of the Month. Monticelli teaches English to 9th graders and 12th graders. She also is the Yearbook Moderator at the high school in which she oversees the yearbook from start to finish.
She is both creative and energetic. She spends time with senior English students as they prepare for scholarship essays and complete college applications. “She expects and wants each student to succeed after high school, in spite of their background and current station in life,” says Guidance Counselor Pamela Schram.
Monticelli is described as being able to make a connection with the student that is impossible to get close to. “The most difficult, most wayward, most challenging student could make progress and feel connected in Mrs. Monticelli’s classrooms. She is willing to give up her planning period and her lunch period to help them, and they know it,” says Shram.
Monticelli represents the Youngstown area as Teacher of the Month for the Ohio Lottery. For being recognized as Teacher of the Month, Monticelli will receive four tickets to a Cleveland Cavaliers’ game, a merchandise prize pack from the team, and an assortment of Lottery Partners in Education merchandise.
The Ohio Lottery will continue to recognize Academic All Stars and Teachers of the Month throughout the school year. For more information about the program and for nomination forms, go to www.ohiolottery.com.
