Ohio Lottery honors elementary teacher for classroom
and community work

DAYTON -- Eight-year-old Tina Goodwill is picking up so much more than reading and writing in the second grade at St. Albert the Great School in Dayton. That’s why she nominated her teacher, Dee Campbell, for the Ohio Lottery Teacher of the Month award.

“She teaches seven- and eight-year-old children to not only spell, read, write, add and subtract but also to love one another and make a positive contribution to our beautiful world,” Tina wrote in her nomination. Tina’s mom, Deb Goodwill, added “As a Mom, I feel so fortunate that my daughter is being taught by such a dynamite teacher.”

Thusly, Campbell is being honored by the Ohio Lottery as its February Teacher of the Month for the Dayton area. As an Ohio Lottery Teacher of the Month, Campbell will receive four tickets to an upcoming Dayton Bombers game, where she will be publicly recognized. She will receive a prize pack of Bombers’ merchandise and assorted Partners in Education merchandise from the Lottery.

Campbell likes to present herself as a positive role model for her second graders at St. Albert the Great – she organizes an annual fundraiser with her class and sends the money to a charitable organization. This year, the money from the project went to the African Mission to help other children in their lives and education. “In a world where many people are suffering, Mrs. Campbell teaches her students to reach out to the community, to get involved and to make a difference.”
