Middle school teacher shines
Lorain Lisa Misson is being honored by the Ohio Lottery as the Teacher of the Month. Misson is a 5th grade Social Studies teacher at Walter G. Nord Middle School.
“Her talent in teaching has raised the scores of her students,” remarks Barry Kaufman, a paraprofessional who works with Misson. She is active with the Parent-Teacher Organization. She is described as a team member who is happy to give of her time to both students and fellow faculty.
Misson is described by Kaufman as having a “heart felt drive” for teaching. Kaufman comments that Misson was “raised in an educational family.” She knew at a very young age that she wanted to pursue a career in teaching. She dedicates hours of preparation and communicates daily with parents. Her students’ OAT test results are described as excellent and are an example for others to follow.
Misson will receive tickets to a Cleveland Indian’s game, recognition at the event, merchandise from the team and Partners in Education merchandise from the Ohio Lottery for being the Teacher of the Month for the month of August.
The Ohio Lottery will continue to recognize Academic All Stars and Teachers of the Month throughout the school year. For more information about the program and for nomination forms, go to www.Ohiolottery.com.
