The Ohio Lottery honors a teacher
XENIA - Herschel (Butch) Bolton was recently honored as an Ohio Lottery Teacher of the Month. He is an 11-12th grade Career Based Intervention (CBI) teacher. CBI is an alternative to traditional classroom education at Xenia High School located in Greene County. Bolton represents the Dayton area.
Assistant Principal Karol Warden says that Bolton helps students who have problems with their grades, attendance and deportment. “He helps them believe in themselves and turn the negatives in their lives into positives. Students become A/B students, come to school and stay out of trouble. Butch knows how to challenge his students for great success,” says Warden. Bolton monitors the student’s work in school as well as at their jobs to make sure they are on task and that they are successful. He has a genuine interest in his students.
Bolton is making a difference this year at the school in another way. He spearheaded the first all color yearbook to come out in the history of the school. He is in charge of the yearbook and challenged his staff to raise enough money to do an all color yearbook. The 2009 yearbook will appear in all color and because of his hard work is said to be one of the best ever.
For being recognized as a Teacher of the Month, Bolton will receive four tickets to a Cincinnati Reds’ game, recognition at the event, merchandise from the team and an assortment of Partners in Education merchandise from the Ohio Lottery.
The Ohio Lottery will continue to recognize Academic All Stars and Teachers of the Month throughout the school year. For more information about the program and for nomination forms, go to www.Ohiolottery.com.
