Northfield Elementary School student is an Academic All Star

NORTHFIELD - The Ohio Lottery recently named Luke Alvord an Academic All Star for the month of September. He represents the Akron-Canton area. Alvord is a 3rd grade student at Northfield Elementary School.

Alvord is described as a great example of the school’s mission which consists of pride, courage, hard work and the student themselves. “Although Luke was born with a physical disability he does not see himself as disabled. Luke’s attitude toward learning consistently demonstrates how dependable and trustworthy a student should be to succeed. Luke completes all of his homework and assignments to the best of his ability,” says Special Education Teacher, Peggy Ross.

Ross says, “I believe Luke should be considered for this award not because of what sets him apart from his peers, but what he does to include himself. I wish every student I worked with shared Luke’s kind and caring nature.”

For being recognized as an Academic All Star, Alvord will receive four tickets to a Cleveland Cavaliers’ game, recognition at the event, merchandise from the team and an assortment of Partners in Education merchandise from the Ohio Lottery.
