AKRON... In nominating Beau Cross as an Academic All Star, teacher Nils Swenberg attested to Beau’s excellent attendance and grade-point average.

Excellent is an understatement. How about perfect?

Beau, a sophomore at Coventry High School in Akron, hasn’t missed a day of school in 11 years, including Kindergarten. Throughout that time, he has maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA. Says Swenberg, who taught Beau as a ninth-grader at Coventry Junior High, “Beau is dependable, well-organized and is always interested in doing a quality job. He has a winning personality which has allowed him to deal effectively with staff members and students alike. He never talks to down to anyone and is always asking how he can help others.”

Beau is also a stellar athlete, lettering in wrestling, football and baseball. He lists an ultimate goal of winning an academic or athletic scholarship to Ohio State University.

Here’s another honor Beau can add to his collection: The Ohio State Lottery is proud to honor him as the October Academic All Star for the Akron/Canton area. As an Academic All Star, Beau will receive four tickets to an upcoming Cleveland Cavaliers game and a prize pack of Cavaliers’ merchandise. He will also be publicly recognized at the game.
