Lincoln West High School Student Receives Recognition
From The Ohio Lottery
Cleveland... Jonathon Mirabal is a senior at Lincoln West High School. Mirabal recently was named an Academic All Star by The Ohio Lottery. He represents the Cleveland area for the month of May.
Mirabal is the Vice President of the Student Council at Lincoln West High School. He is a Captain of the Cross Country team and a member of the Track Team. He volunteers for Toys For Tots and assisted in a canned food drive at his church. He won the “All Subjects Outstanding Performance” award this year.
“For me Jonathon has been a tremendous student and an example asset to our sixty five percent English limited students in our low income student population,” says Olga Gueits (Science teacher).
Jonathon was able to move from “0” performance to a 4.0 GPA in his 12th grade year. He is described as a “one in a thousand man”. “He encountered a variety of issues during his initial high school life. His academic performance was a serious threat for him to graduate. He was able to change his immediate environment to pursue a better future,” says Gueits.
For being recognized as an Academic All Star, Mirabal will receive four tickets to a Cleveland Indians’ game, merchandise from the team, recognition at the event, and Partners in Education merchandise from the Lottery.
The Ohio Lottery will continue to recognize Academic All Stars and Teachers of the Month throughout the school year.
