Eighth-grade student receives recognition from the Ohio Lottery
WOOSTER - Heather Koontz was recently honored as an Academic All Star by the Ohio Lottery. Koontz attends Edgewood Middle School in Wayne County. She represents the Akron/Canton area for the month of January.
According to her teachers and those who know her, Koontz shows kindnesses and a level of compassion not usually seen in an eighth-grader. Many say that she often goes out of her way to be kind to others without being asked. She has reached out to students with multiple disabilities by helping out the physical education teacher with her adaptive physical education class. She works with her peers in the physical education class who have special needs.
For being recognized as an Academic All Star, Koontz will receive four tickets to a Cleveland Cavaliers’ game, recognition at the event, merchandise from the team and an assortment of Partners in Education merchandise from the Ohio Lottery.
The Ohio Lottery will continue to recognize Academic All Stars and Teachers of the Month throughout the school year. For more information about the program and for nomination forms, go to the Academic All Star links on this web site's home page.
