Euclid fourth-grader named Academic All Star by Ohio Lottery
EUCLID -- At Roosevelt Elementary, Mariah Workman is busy doing her best. At this point in her 9-year-old life, fewer things are more important than being the best she can be at whatever she does.
Roosevelt teacher Terrie Dodd noticed that Mariah, a fourth-grader, has capably managed to produce high-quality work in both academics and extracurricular activities. So the Ohio Lottery is honoring Mariah as its January Academic All Star for Cuyahoga County.
As an Ohio Lottery Academic All Star, Mariah will receive four tickets to an upcoming Lake Erie Monsters game, where she will be publicly recognized. She will receive a prize pack of Monsters’ merchandise and assorted Partners in Education merchandise from the Lottery.
“While working with the Student Council, Mariah helped to collect hats and gloves for her less-fortunate peers,” Dodd said in her nomination. “She is a student who is always willing to give more of herself to make our classroom and our school a positive place to be.”
In addition to being a stellar student and involved in Student Council, Mariah also plays the violin.
The Ohio Lottery will continue to recognize Academic All Stars and Teachers of the Month throughout the school year. For more information about the program and for nomination forms, go to www.Ohiolottery.com.
