WHITEHALL… The Ohio Lottery is pleased to recognize Whitehall Shell as Retailer-of-the-Week for the week of May 12. Whitehall Shell will be recognized on Cash Explosion ® Double Play on May 17, 2008.

Being in business for almost 31 years, you get to know your customers by name. The families of Farrington and Hobbs are the owners of that business located at 4780 E. Broad Street. According to Vickie Lynn Hobbs, customers who frequent this location feel like family. In this case, familiarity is breeding a family-like environment for the customers at this convenience store that is a gas station and a car wash.

To promote lottery, each of the twelve employees will ask for the sale. The business has a lucky lottery table where supplies are plentiful. Customers can study the lottery book and see what numbers have fallen. They will also see a Mega Millions’ display and the dry erase board that shows the current jackpot amounts. The business keeps the instant ticket dispensers full at all times and will even duplicate tickets if the space permits. Having a variety of instants and filled ticket dispensers are key to success. It’s important to the owners to have a variety of tickets because they sell to a variety of people. Customers are neighbors and others who work in surrounding business locations.  Whitehall Shell carries 47 instant games and has a weekly selling average of $29,613. Whitehall Shell is ranked second in total sales for this district.
