Weaver's Gas & Oil named Retailer-of-the-Week

WEST PORTSMOUTH, OH - The Ohio Lottery is pleased to recognize Weaver’s Gas & Oil as Retailer-of-the-Week for the week of May 20, 2013. Weaver’s Gas & Oil will be recognized on Cash Explosion® on May 25, 2013.

Dee Cox, owner of the convenience store and carryout food business at 22428 St. Rt. 73 in West Portsmouth, is very much community minded. Having been in the community for over 35 years, Cox says that the lottery is a draw to her establishment. Many of her customers are locals, and Cox promotes the lottery business inside and outside of the store.

Rachel Elliott, sales representative to Weaver’s says Cox is an easy retailer to work with. The store has a dedicated Lottery area and hosts spin & win promotions. Cox also has a message display sign outside the gas station that keeps jackpot amounts current.

“She believes Lottery is an asset to her business,” Elliott said. “She uses several marketing strategies suggested by Ohio Lottery sales reps. The clerks ask for the sale in addition to having lottery in a visible location. They are very friendly and welcoming to all customers, and I appreciate their dedication to the lottery,” Elliott said.

Cox says promoting the Lottery leads to success. The business carries 37 instants and has a weekly sales average of $5,139. The Ohio Lottery recognizes one outstanding retail partner who offers courteous service and sales enthusiasm. Retailer-of-the-Week is chosen based on recommendations by their Lottery sales representative and regional sales office staff.
