CLEVELAND The Ohio Lottery presented a Top Prize Drawing (TPD) winner with a check for $250,000 on Dec. 15, 2008, at a press conference at Lottery Central offices in Cleveland.
Alexander L. Willard, 69, of Cleveland purchased his winning $5 Holiday Lucky Times Ten ticket at Convenient Food Mart on Rocky River Dr. in Cleveland. The original ticket was purchased Nov. 2007, at which time Willard won an instant $1,000 prize. When he made that claim, he was automatically entered into the drawing for the $250,000 top prize. The TPD drawing was held at Ohio Lottery offices Dec. 4, 2008. There were 31 tickets in this TPD drawing.

Willard was told he was required to visit Lottery offices to complete compulsory paper work. Lottery Executive Director Michael A. Dolan surprised him with a giant check at a joint press conference for Ohio’s $207 Mega Millions jackpot this weekend and to present Willard with his check for $250,000. Media representatives were on hand. Willard’s first statement was, “What a trick. That was cool!” Later he remarked, “very surprised is nothing, I’m flabbergasted!”
