Parma... Nancy Martinko arrived at Mack’s Beverage in Parma and was promptly greeted by the Ohio Lottery’s Promotions Manager and a television camera crew. No surprise there, because Martinko was doing the Lottery a favor by submitting to an interview about Top Prize Drawings.

But after a couple of interview questions, the Lottery pulled a surprise on Martinko, bringing out an oversized check for $100,000 ... with her name on it. By virtue of a $5 Battleship instant ticket bought a year ago, Martinko was one of 26 people in a drawing for a chance at $100,000.

After receiving the check, a trembling Martinko sat and had a drink of water. Shortly after, the store owner offered her a bottle of red wine with the words, “celebrate tonight on me”.

Martinko purchased her $5 Battleship ticket in March 2007, at which time she won an instant $1,000 prize. When she made that claim, she was automatically entered into the drawing for the $100,000 top prize.
