Ohio Lottery and the National Council on Problem Gambling Promotes Responsible Gifting

CLEVELAND – The Ohio Lottery and the National Council on Problem Gambling are reminding gift givers to be responsible when giving lottery tickets as gifts this holiday season.

Ohio Lottery holiday instant tickets are often popular items as stocking stuffers and gift add-ons, but you must be 18 or older to purchase and play all Ohio Lottery games.

“Our games are intended for adults 18 and older who enjoy playing them. We are committed to responsible gambling and urge adult responsibility when considering gifts and stocking stuffers,” Lottery Director Dennis Berg said.

In a recent study conducted at Yale University, youngsters who received instant lottery tickets as a gift tended to begin gambling earlier in life, a possible risk factor for more severe gambling disorders later.

If you or someone you know has a gambling problem, call the Ohio Problem Gambling Hotline at 1-800-589-9966 or visit www.org.ohio.gov.
