Retiree Has More Freedom

LORAIN - George Haws likes having freedom to do a little bit more since he retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation after 35 years of service. Now he has some money to go with it. The Sandusky resident won $100,000 in the Ohio Lottery’s Top Prize Drawing in the Kings and Queens instant game.

After mandatory federal and state taxes totaling 31 percent, Haws receives a check for $69,000. He says he has no immediate plans for the windfall.

One of 30 finalists, Haws purchased the TPD entry ticket from Harney’s Market in October 2010. That ticket, worth $5,500 was automatically entered into the drawing that took place on March 28, 2012 at Lottery Central. Located at 3712 Columbus Avenue in Sandusky, Harney’s Market received a $1,000 selling bonus.
