NORTH CANTON – A Carrollton resident is the first Ohio millionaire under the new Powerball game. Michael P. McCully was not supposed to be in New Philadelphia, but while he was there he stopped and bought a Powerball ticket. His ticket matched five numbers in the 2-18-12 Powerball drawing.

“It’s awesome. I keep telling my mom to pinch me so that I know it’s real,” he said. “I’m speechless.”

After mandatory federal and state taxes totaling 31 percent are withheld, McCully receives $690,000. He said he has already ordered a new car with part of his winnings.

He purchased the ticket from Speedway, 243 N. Broadway in New Philadelphia. He used auto pick. The winning numbers were 23-28-50-56-59. The Powerball number was 5. Speedway receives a $1,000 bonus for selling a five-of- five second tier prizewinning ticket.
