COLUMBUS – Traci Skinner of Columbus went to her nursing class on Monday like she has every other Monday this year, but she left $1 million dollars richer thanks to a big surprise from the Ohio Lottery.
Traci was the winner of an Ohio Lottery Top Prize Drawing for $1 million. She was entered into the drawing last December after she won $5,500 on a Classic Black instant ticket that also had the TPD symbol. Traci’s name was pulled out of the pool of 23 entries last week.
The Ohio Lottery staged a surprise reveal during Traci’s nursing class at Fortis College in Westerville Monday afternoon. An actor posing as a guest speaker in Skinner’s class revealed the big win, which was followed by a check presentation by Ohio Lottery representatives complete with balloons, confetti and roses.
“We are thrilled that Traci is Ohio’s newest millionaire. She is very deserving and this prize will certainly brighten the holiday season for her and her family. We are very pleased that the Fortis family was able to share in her joy today,” Fortis College Dean Karen Pictor said.
During a telephone interview prior to the drawing, Traci said winning the Top Prize Drawing would be great. She is working part time as a nurse while she attends nursing school full time to earn her masters degree. Traci and her husband have three boys ages 5, 9 and 12.
