Ohio Lottery Posts Record Sales

CLEVELAND – The Ohio Lottery is proud to announce record sales of $2.6 billion for Fiscal Year 2011, a total that exceeds the previous year’s sales by $108 million. This is the 10th consecutive year sales have increased at the Lottery.

The Lottery’s year-end transfer to the Lottery Profits Education Fund (LPEF) totaled $738.8 million, the second highest in Ohio Lottery Commission history. The largest transfer was for $748.8 million in 1997.

Dollar figures are unaudited.

Lottery Interim Director Dennis Berg said more than half of sales came from instant ticket games.  “Our instant tickets continue to be popular with players. We are excited that our players are enjoying a variety of products with price points from $1 to $20,” Berg said.

Berg said Keno sales were up 30 percent. The Lottery has made playing more convenient by offering self service vending machines at Keno locations.

One hundred percent of Lottery profits generated support public education K-12 in Ohio.
