Press Release

Heath man wins $100,000 TPD prize

COLUMBUS - A 55 -year-old Heath resident expected to get a t-shirt from the Ohio Lottery when he and his wife, Paula came to the regional office on April 2, 2011. That day John Calhoun got something greater: an oversized check for $100,000 letting him know that he was the top prize winner in the Ohio Lottery’s Winner Bingo Doubler game.

Last year in May, Calhoun purchased a $5 Winner Bingo Doubler instant ticket from GasAmerica on Hebron Road in Heath. That was a TPD (top prize drawing) ticket, which won him $5,500 and automatic entry into the drawing for a top $100,000 prize.  Calhoun was one of the 19 entrants in the drawing that took place in the Ohio Lottery’s Cleveland office on 4/12/2011.

Being a finalist in a TPD game before, Calhoun wasn’t getting his hopes up. So he didn’t expect anything. Calhoun got a greater expectation when he received the oversized replica of a $100,000 check he would be getting. Last year when he got the $5,500 he put the win in the bank to start a new kitchen fund. With this latest win, now he can finish the work.

GasAmerica receives a $1,000 agent bonus for selling a top prize winning ticket.

The Ohio Lottery is actively seeking winners of all prize levels to share their stories.  Players with an interest in telling theirs can contact the Ohio Lottery at www.ohiolottery.com/winners.
