Coming home to a win

DAYTON - Coming back home brought smiles to a former Troy, Ohio couple. David and Nina Durham, now of West Virginia, returned to the Dayton regional office after learning that they won the $100,000 top prize in the Ohio Lottery’s Bingo Times 10 Top Prize Drawing.

Lewisburg Marathon on St. Rt. 503 in Lewisburg sold the Durhams the $5 Bingo Times Ten instant last March. That $1,000 winning ticket automatically qualified the Durhams entry into the drawing for a $100,000 top prize. There were 14 entrants in this drawing that took place on March 29, 2011 at Lottery Central.

Ohio Lottery Promotions Manager Allison Turner presented David and Nina with an oversized check for $100,000 in the Dayton regional office on Monday, April 4. After mandatory federal and state taxes totaling 31 percent, the Durhams will receive a check for $69,000.  The Durhams said that part of their winnings will be donated to a group home that is very close to their hearts.

The Ohio Lottery is actively seeking winners of all prize levels to share their stories. Players with an interest in telling theirs can contact the Ohio Lottery at www.ohiolottery.com/winners.

Since 1974, the Ohio Lottery has raised more than $17 billion to support K-12 education across Ohio. The Lottery’s fiscal year 2010 transfer to the Lottery Profits for Education Fund was $728.6 million.
